If you plant it, will it grow?

If you want a heliconia, they dig up part of the root-y thing for you.  You come home with a bare old bulb hanging out.  So you have to plant it right away or you feel guilty. Guilty for killing something that was alive until you asked them to dig it up.

Like this awesome torch ginger.  Fingers crossed.  Live to see another day, my beauty!  Or like this heliconia restrata.  I think that's what it's called.
Now I think it's ristrata.  Whatever.  Rooty things that were alive.  Until I made them dig them up.  I hope I can sleep, knowing that I have brought them to the brink.

I just think it would be groovy if you tell me your thoughts on this.
